The Lions’ offense has been missing a spark all season since they don’t really have a guy to make explosive plays, but now Jameson Williams is finally healthy enough to come back to practice. How will this affect the Lions’ season turnaround and what impact will he have?

What Does Jameson Williams Bring To The Lions Offense?

Jameson Williams was one of if not the most electric players in all of college football last year, and due to his ACL injury fell all the way to the Lions at pick 12. He made plays out of nothing, brought drag routes all the way, and beat defensive backs over and over again with his unmatched speed. He put up over 100 yards in the SEC championship game last year when they were one of the best defenses in college football history. If not for his ACL tear in the National championship he would’ve been the consensus best receiver in the draft class and likely ran one of the fastest 40-yard dashes ever.

The best quality Jameson Williams will bring to the Detroit Lions’ offense is his deep-threat ability. The Lions have not had anyone who can beat defensive backs with pure speed in a while and Williams brings exactly that and more for Detroit. He also has a great ability to create big plays out of short routes with how fast he is, and how easily he changes direction to hit gaps in the defense. Jameson Williams has the potential and skill to do everything you can ask a receiver to do in this league and could be Detroit’s true number one receiving option for years to come.

Jameson is the perfect complement to what the Lions have at receiver at the moment, they got their star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown in the slot, DJ Chark as the size guy on the outside, and now Jameson Williams as the speedy outside receiver. With his number one receiver ability, it will take the slack off St. Brown’s shoulder, so he doesn’t have to do everything in the receiving game, and in turn, keep him healthier for the rest of his career. With all Jameson, Williams brings to the table the Detroit Lions’ receiving core may be set for the years to come and could develop as one of the best units in the league.

How Does Jameson Williams Affect The Lions Season?

The Lions are tied for the longest win streak in the entire NFC and other than the Bills have a fairly favorable schedule for the rest of the season. Right as they are getting hot their injured players are finally starting to come back, so the timing of this could not be any better. Jameson Williams has the ability and mentality to make an impact as soon as he hit the football field. With him coming back and Romeo Okwara making a return the Detroit Lions could have a real shot at making a wildcard spot.

Williams has finally spoken to the public now that he’s back and he seems more excited than ever to play football. He said in an interview today “ I’m real, real, real excited to put my cleats on, be able to put my jersey on, and get out there with the guys.” With his enthusiasm to come back, he could be the missing piece to this offense being almost unstoppable. Once he gets back out on the field the Lions’ offense will likely change completely for the better, and he could push this team to be a playoff contender like they think they can be.
